There seems to be a huge trend to micro-blogging via Twitter, FriendFeed, Jaiku, etc…. than spending the effort to compose a post. Even Tumblr seems cumbersome compared to Twitter et al. This is even more true once one becomes accustomed to using the microformats. The paradigm shift has happened. Blogs will become more like magazines and Twitter and co have become the de facto standard for day to day posting. Oddly, or perhaps not so oddly, Kottke has been doing a pseudo microformat for years. Very prescient of him.

Kottke blows a gasket?Jason seems to have come unhinged in his uncharacteristic post regarding the current administration.
”There has been demonstrable legal wrongdoing” Where? How? Otherwise smacks of ad hominem.
“…through some magical process, they’ve charmed the country…” He really believes there is such a thing?
Maybe something else is slipping here….his mind?

After years of having too much time I suddenly find myself having none. It feels really weird. Here is my List of Time Problems:
- I want to read but have no time.
- I want to walk but have no way of clearing time to do so.
- I want to be a better Dad but can’t find time for that.
- I want to be a better husband but we can’t find time alone.
- I want to work more but that would be suicide
- I want to make this longer but….you got it…..no time!
The mortgage meltdown in a nutshell
Tuesday, 8 April 2008
But he’s the expert, right? It’s a tough thing. If you have somebody who’s really trained in the mortgage business, he’s been in the mortgage business for fifteen years, in equilibrium he’ll do a great job. He’ll be able to pick, of the mortgage pools out there, which is the good one, which is the bad one. He did a very good job of that, because the ones that he picked were better than the market. But in terms of detecting the paradigm shift, the guy who’s just buried in the forest… he’s not going to see the big picture, he’s not going to catch the paradigm shift. From here

I appreciate people who are civil, whether they mean it or not. I think: Be civil. Do not cherish your opinion over my feelings. There’s a vanity to candor that isn’t really worth it. Be kind.

This is the first time

This is the first time in 20 yrs that I have been alone for longer than 5 days. My wife and kids left to go to our former home state for two weeks. Me? I can’t go because I have to work. I did not work for many years and was a stay at home Dad… Catching untold rafts of shit for not jumping back into the workforce. Then, when I go back to work everyone wants me to go on vacation. I have been at the new job for three months and already gone on vacation once. Go figure. Life throws me some big ones but I must remain true to my simple principles and do the next right thing. This time meant staying home with the beast aka dog. Beast sounds much better though. So my home feels like there has been a death in the family…in the sense that it is eerily silent. It’s really weird. None of the daily incessant cacophony my kids generate. Maybe this IS peace. Haven’t known that for some time…..
Must start posting more

This was really restarting a conversation I ha with the cloud for 4 years. Some weird privacy issues forced me to shut off that stream of consciousness. So, here we go. It has just been tough to get back into t after a 6 month hiatus. My mom died and that should have presented a cathartic release of my pain via blogging but instead I shut down. So I pledge to post once a day in honor of her. I miss her so.
